Job Title: Cost Accountant Job Location: Dayton, Ohio Job Summary : The Cost Accountant directs activities of product costing, product manufacturing analysis, and inventory valuation. The position provides recommendations to senior management in support of the achievement of corporate and divisional goals. Position reports to the Worldwide Cost Accounting Manager Responsibilities: Perform month-end close activities related to Cost Accounting. Preparation of quarterly excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory files. Lead the quarterly E&O reviews with each business area. Detailed Analytics to determine what was required to reserve that exceeds our On-Hand Inventories. Send all E&O entries to appropriate LE's for booking. Run / Create DOMO/BI reports associated with Inventory and E&O. Detailed Analytics to move Balance Sheet reserves from on BA to another to eliminate P&L Impacts from part transfers. Analyze the open work orders to Reclass WIP to Proper BA - by Reconciling the Trial Balance to the Open Work orders Perpetual Inventory Reports: This will require detailed analysis of work orders to determine the proper charges to be assessed to the proper BA's. Detailed Analytics to determine the Hours of Production to allocate the warehouse and factory charges to the BA's who incurred the costs. Reclass WIP Variances - Over 90 Days to the proper BA's for accruing the expenses to ensure Work orders are closed in a timely fashion. Detailed Analysis of WIP Perpetual True-Up: by Reconciling the Trial Balance to the Open Work orders Perpetual Inventory Reports. Clears up all the rounding discrepancies from the perpetual to the Open Work Orders. Detailed Analysis to Reclass OCOGS to Proper BA: Reclass WIP to COGS postings to the correct BU based upon who is the owner of the part (to match cost with revenue postings). PII for E&O at Quarter-End. Detailed analytics to Reclass Direct & Temp Labor incurred to the Proper BA. Ensure validity and accuracy of ERP through analysis, internal audit, and coordination with manufacturing on production and work order processing. Assist in developing and documenting policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls. Represent Finance/Accounting on teams designed to improve operations, reduce costs, etc. Assist in the quarterly and annual financial audits (compiling and preparing cost data for support of schedules and questions). Required Skills: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience; cost accounting preferred. 3 years of operational experience, especially with inventory. Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and high confidence in stating professional opinions. Strong grasp of GAAP accounting and general accounting concepts. Extremely strong Excel skills, especially advanced financial modeling and analytical techniques. Demonstrated ability to streamline and automate complex processes Desired Skills: CPA/CMA Certification and/or an MBA. Very strong project management skills. Ability to organize and lead both functional and cross-functional teams. Knowledge of Oracle, Domo, and COGNOS applications.
