Description:Job Purpose:The Senior Accountant is responsible for the areas of Accounts Receivable, Customer Invoicing, Collections, Accounts Payable, and Payroll for this mid-size manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will be able to successfully manage these accounting functions at a tactical level, and add company leadership responsibilities in the future. Essential Functions:Oversee schedules for progress billing invoices. Create and transmit invoices for new equipment, parts, and service, utilizing customer software platforms when needed.Lead collection process for customers with past due accounts.Manage customer payments within the company's accounts receivable system.Review and approve entries relating to billings, collections, and A/R adjustments.Receive and verify supplier invoices and ensure expenditures are properly classified for entry to accounts payable and the company's general ledger system.Process and reconcile credit card charges, assign account codes, and enter to GL system. Ensure prompt payments.Review weekly payroll submissions to ADP. Monitor employee vacation/leave records within the payroll system.Classify capital purchases and create appropriate fixed asset records.Develop and maintain cash flow forecast for company.Interface as needed with corporate treasury functions to ensure proper funding in local account.Participate in the monthly closing process and the reconciliation of accounts to ensure SOX compliance.Perform other related duties/functions as assigned.Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Accounting required with five or more years of experience in an accounting environment.Ability to operate with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.Able to think creatively to resolve issues or identify solutions with creative or unconventional methodology.Effective communication - written and oral. Ability to cooperate with team members and leadership in a professional manner.Ability to represent Shaffer in a professional manner when interacting with customers while collecting past due receivables.Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.Advanced level skills in Microsoft Excel; proficient with Microsoft Word.Previous experience with ERP software, preferably in a B2B or manufacturing environment.
