Job Description Job Description Responsibilities: Support Company growth and profitability. Assist in achieving operational goals & objectives. Prepare competitive bids for appropriate work. Develop successful portfolio of Customers via good sales and estimating program. Achieve and maintain highest levels of performance possible Represent Company effectively to Construction and Steel Fabrication Customers. Participate in planning and implementation of operational improvements for the Company (Quality, Safety, and Customer Service) per NAAMM, AISC, general construction industry, and general business standards and best practices. Routine Functions: Evaluate Invitations To Bid (ITBs), documents, and specifications to determine which bid invitations are best suited for HG Metals to quote. Perform take-off based on reviewed/assessed bid documents. Complete submitted bid spreadsheet, accounting for each bid submission and outcome. Prepare preliminary scope (if required) and coordinate with interested General Contractors. Solicit material and subcontractor pricing; as needed. Prepare final scope/bid/alternates and submit by required bid date. (Considering mark-up and similar guidance from Director of Operations.) When HG Metals is the successful bidder, finalize scope and pricing. Send job scope and bid documents to Detailer, as required. Review won contract documents prior to submitting to business office for signature. Enter job information into Quickbooks and complete cost budget; certified payroll; and utilization documents for Business Office and Project Manager. Schedule coordination meeting with Project Manager and Shop Foreman to hand-off each new job. Prepare schedule of values with help of Project Manager. Prepare material take-offs from approved drawings as received from Project Manager. Price change orders/review back-charges with Project Manager and make necessary changes in Quickbooks and on budget sheets for Business Office. Maintain vendor relations and develop new material sources. Review vendor pricing and Quality. Follow established performance matrix: 25 bid minimum per month 5-10% successful contract wins Bid spread/span Mark-up flexibility Utilize Company technology and telecommunications tools (customary business software: Microsoft, QuickBooks, Outlook) in order to assist with business functions, e.g., billing, contract submittals and compliance, risk-reduction, and customer service. Periodic Functions: Train and/or supervise others. Prepare performance evaluations. Participate in/Contribute to weekly meetings for planning & problem solving. General Business Development activity. Required Qualifications and Skills: Post-High School vocational or technical training. Verifiable experience and proven success in the estimating of steel service projects related to Construction . College-level coursework helpful. Ability to read construction blueprints, and perform take-offs. Ability to interpret technical specifications for basic metallurgy, steel (and other metal) fabrication, and to comply with requirements. Competency in math & measuring.
