Composite Advantage, an industry leader in large scale composite material/fiberglass components, seeks an Engineering Manager to join our growing organization. The Engineering Manager directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within an area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate Engineers and Drafters. Our Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composite material products are technically complex to design and engineer and no two projects will be the same. We also manufacture all of our components in-house, so this role is ideal for someone who likes to see the end result of their work.

Duties and Responsibilities for the Engineering Manager:

• Develop shop drawings and calculations for prefabricated fiberglass structures (bridges, waterfront, military)
• Work with drafting personnel to create and edit drawings
• Work with production and QC personnel on fabrication questions
• Work with customers on design changes
• Create submittal packages for Composite Advantage product lines
• Work with the sales team to assist with estimating future jobs
• Responsible for overall management of Civil Engineering Department and resources.
• Liaison with internal Engineering team and external consultants including review, coordination and quality control of contracts and drawings.
• Builds staff capabilities through training and development programs that improve individual and collective technical competency, inspire and motivate design teams to guarantee quality design documentation is produced and ensure client satisfaction is achieved.
• Administers performance evaluations for team members to include periodic and on-demand coaching and feedback.
• Ensures compliance and safety of all activities within the organizational standards and policies.

  Qualifications for the Engineering Manager:
  
  • Bachelors Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and Solidworks
  • Hard working, organized, technically sound and works well in a group environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self motivated individual
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong leadership skills - ability to manage and build teams effectively
  • Time management skills and the ability to work independently and as a team
  • EIT certification is preferred, but not required
  • Strong skills in change management, negotiation, problem solving, customer orientation and team leadership
  • Has an independent & organized work style with the ability to effectively manage time, prioritize work responsibilities, assume and manage multiple tasks without close supervision while ensuring that deadlines are met
  • Strong analytical capabilities and initiative to take action as appropriate and necessary
