The Product Engineer will participate and lead in product improvement and cost reduction initiatives and facilitate development strategies on behalf of Vandor. S/he is responsible for ensuring that products enter the market successfully and can be supported by sales and customer service after launch. This position will work cross-functionally with management, marketing, purchasing, accounting and production departments within the organization. The information developed by the product engineer will be in the form of 2d and or 3d mechanical drawings, pre-production samples, and product specifications. This position is focused heavily on design and manufacture of paper and wood products.

Includes the following but not limited to other duties that may be assigned:-- Create 3D SolidWorks models and or 2d drawings for designs of new and existing products.-- Generate CNC programs using Mastercam software. Mastercam training available.-- Contribute to ensuring positive customer experiences.-- Manage timelines for product implementation.-- Coordinate with production, purchasing, and marketing.-- Responsible for engineering change notices.-- Understand and manage non-disclosure agreements.-- Gather documentation of new materials such as specifications and safety data sheets.-- Oversee product launch to ensure all product requirements are being met.-- Coordinate and participate in product testing and validation.-- Actively participate in weekly production and marketing meetings. PRODUCT ENGINEER QUALIFICATIONS:-- College degree or equivalent experience preferred.-- Must have experience with 3D/2D design software such as DraftSight or SolidWorks, experience with Mastercam or other CAD/CAM software preferred. Candidate should have experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and ability to learn/use other programs.-- Communication skills, both verbal and written required. The ability to read/write and interpret information is critical to this position.--Nomenclature, descriptions, units of measure and other details entered into system must be consistent to maintain the integrity of the data.-- Ability to retain/recall information: In order to work efficiently, the individual must have the capacity to retain and recall product and raw materials knowledge. -- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities; uses time efficiently; plan for additional resources; sets goals and objectives; organizes their schedules and tasks; develops realistic action plans.-- Above average and quick mathematical skills are necessary.-- Product Engineer must be able to analyze problems, identify and implement alternative solutions, communicate the logic behind these decisions and be effective in doing so both within and outside the organization.
