Use your optical engineering skills to help Honeywell Aerospace
Lighting deliver innovative solutions throughout an unlimited
variety of optical design disciplines. You will be empowered to
think BIG and challenge yourself to understand more than just one
aspect of the optical engineering discipline. You will work
alongside some of the world's most talented engineers. You will
apply research of complex optical systems to achieve desired
optical specifications. You will contribute to the development of
Honeywell's next generation of aircraft lighting products by
designing, testing and validating products from prototype to
market. Responsibilities
- Performs activities concerned with the design, development and
manufacture of state-of-the-art aircraft lighting systems with
specific responsibility for optical components associated with
products for commercial and military aerospace applications. The
position requires knowledge of, and substantial experience in,
optical physics & the principles of illumination system design &
manufacture, inclusive of appropriate optical design software,
understanding of refractive and reflective optics, as well as
state-of-the-art light source technologies, i.e. LEDs, laser
diodes, high intensity discharge lamps, fiber optics, etc.
- Optical Simulation and Design
- Opto-mechanical tolerance and thermal analysis
- Optical part drawing package development
- Performance specification
- Collaborating with external vendors
- Supporting manufacturing line support request
- Customer site visits
- Testing YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Optics, or Physics WE
VALUE
- 5 years of experience in the field or related area
- Experience with complete engineering lifecycle (Design to
volume production)
- Optical simulation experience (Zemax, Code-V, Light Tools,
Trace Pro and other industry standard tools)
- Parametric mechanical modeling experience (Pro-Engineer, CREO
and Solidworks)
- Experience with Matlab
- Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little
supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things
done, do things before being asked by others or forced to by
events
- Meet performance, cost & schedule requirements. Design to cost,
producibility, reliability, testability, maintainability, etc.
