Job Description
HII is looking for an Airworthiness Engineer to support the F-22
Program Office located at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. Must have
experience working within a Special Access Program (SAP) and a
Secret Clearance.
Looking or candidates with Airworthiness experience.
Must have an understanding of applying MIL-HDBK-516C, Airworthiness
Certification Criteria, to aircraft systems and subsystems.
Assist with ensuring F-22 Weapon System Prime Contractor/
Subcontractors and the F-22 Program Office effectively scale and
transform to Lean/Agile development practices and adhere to Agile
principles.
Technical review of current and proposed software solutions to
ensure software development meets requirements for capability
performance, program security, airworthiness, and applicable coding
standards; and Technical, organizational, and business improvement
or investigative efforts for software systems as part of the F-22
Modernization development program.
Apply an understanding of DoD, USAF, and common
engineering/scientific principles, processes, and procedures to
improve performance and sustainability of existing and future USAF
and joint service weapon systems.
Assist in translating user requirements into weapon system
requirements, which will be used to design, develop, fabricate,
test, and evaluate weapon systems, subsystems, and equipment for
eventual fielding and deployment.
Assist with the development of requirements and technology needs
into action plans and policies necessary to improve and retain
world-class manufacturing, operations, re-manufacturing, and
de-militarization/disposal of weapon system capabilities within the
USAF.
Perform technical/mission analyses of existing and future
operational requirements, assist in developing system concepts, and
perform technological/trade-off assessments of proposed
designs/modifications.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Provide rapid response engineering service and support as
augmentation to organic resources through in-depth problem
identification, impact assessment, and development of corrective
actions for critical supportability problems.
Perform material solution analyses leading up to design
reviews.
The Contractor shall produce or support development of draft
documentation and presentation materials as requested or
necessitated by programmatic constraints based on cost, schedule,
and performance.
Minimum Qualifications
Advanced Degree (MA/MS) and ten years of experience in the
respective technical/ professional discipline being performed with
proper certifications as described in the Labor Category
performance requirements.
OR, BA/BS degree, and 12 years of experience in the respective
technical/professional discipline being performed with proper
certifications as described in the Labor Category performance
requirements.
OR, 15 years of directly related experience with proper
certifications as described in the Labor Category performance
requirements.
Major in engineering from a college or university with an
Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited
engineering program(s) for the degree requirements of the position
(e.g., electrical, mechanical, aerospace, etc.). Degrees in
engineering technology do not qualify for these positions
Provide support to produce or review products that include the
following: technical evaluations/plans; engineering studies,
reports, and analyses; and acquisition strategies/plans, including
but not limited to: ICD; ORD/CDD; CONOPS; CPD; System Requirements
Documents; System specifications; Weapon System Prime
Contractor/Subcontractor RFPs; System Engineering Plans (SEPs);
TEMPs; Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs); Qualification Test
Procedures; program Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health
(ESOH) evaluations; information support plans; Program Protection
Plans (PPPs); Information Assurance Strategies; Security
Classification Guides (SCGs); alternative live fire T&E plans;
Clinger-Cohen Act compliance; Consideration of technology issues;
Data management strategies; Chemical, biological, radiological, and
nuclear survivability assessments; Net-centric data strategies;
Spectrum supportability determinations; Technical data rights
strategies; Technology readiness assessments; and Manufacturing
readiness assessments.
Develop and collect technical data and inputs for staff summary
packages and executive briefings to support coordination and
signature of all associated documents for milestone approvals.
Support project team meetings, working groups, and all technical
reviews upon request, including, but not limited to: SRR, PDR, CDR,
TRR, TCM, TIMs, FCA, PRR, PMR, and other meetings/working
groups/reviews as applicable.
Preferred Requirements
Analyze equipment and software deficiencies, make recommendations
for equipment and software deficiency corrections, and monitor the
development, integration, and testing of equipment and software
deficiency solutions.
Assist the Government in the engineering evaluation of prime and
subcontractor recommendations for operational and support issues,
such as: Evaluations of Advance Change Study Notices (ACSNs),
Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Contractor Change Proposals
(CCPs), FAA bulletins, modification proposals, Diminishing
Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS), program risk,
and related document
Support the development and evaluation of the IMP, IMS, and systems
engineering detailed schedule engineering cost estimates.
Perform, as required, an advisory role for program Weapon System
Prime Contractor source selections on all engineering-related
requirements.
Support the F-22 Division in the performance of disciplined
engineering activities to assure Operational Safety, Suitability,
and Effectiveness (OSS&E) for all products.
Follow the Life Cycle Systems Engineering (LCSE) and
OSS&E-related AFIs and all lower level supplements and related
documents including applicable OIs.
Assist with establishing, implementing, and adhering to LCSE
processes to ensure OSS&E compliance is achieved and
maintained.
Aid the USAF in reviewing and updating the OSS&E Baseline
Document and shall support the USAF in the identification of
OSS&E elements, progress reporting of OSS&E metrics, and
interaction with other organizations to ensure continued OSS&E
compliance.
Ascertain the SEP implementation status throughout program
operations and notify the USAF of pertinent shortfalls or gaps for
which corrective action may be needed.
Support the mechanical systems integrity program, maintain and
update the critical safety item list, and monitor airworthiness
certification for F-22 Division aircraft.
