SummaryThe Propeller Integration Engineer is responsible for the
prediction of propeller aerodynamic performance using analytical
tools. The Propeller Integration Engineer will also be responsible
for the integration of propellers with various aircraft. This
includes aerodynamic performance, acoustic and control system
aspects. When necessary, aerodynamic and structural design and
analysis of propeller blades will be performed. Periodic domestic
and / or foreign travel will be required.Key Deliverables:1)
Calculate aerodynamic performance for propellers.2) Evaluate
propeller installation alternatives- generating and selecting the
best aerodynamic design solutions.3) Perform propeller blade
aerodynamic and structural design.4) Perform control system
analyses and simulation of propeller operating characteristics5)
Communicate with customers regarding design, configuration and
installation issues.6) Manage project assignmentsFirst Year Success
Factors 1) Attend Propeller Integration course (or review course
materials if course is unavailable)2) Learn to operate Hartzell
in-house analysis tools (aerodynamic performance, noise, controls,
icing, etc.)3) Become proficient with Matlab and Simulink
commercial software4) Manage a number of concurrent project
assignments5) Demonstrate proficiency with company product data
management structureRequirements: Education/ExperienceBS in
Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering. Airplane pilot experience and
knowledge of General Aviation aircraft is highly desirable.
Technical Competencies1) Excellent verbal and written communication
skills2) Demonstrated interest/ ability in aviation 3) Proficient
Computer Skills (MS-Office minimum) 4) Knowledge of low speed
aerodynamics a. Familiarity with airfoil design/characteristics and
wing design characteristics.b. Familiarity with CFD (Computational
fluid dynamics) analyses, wind tunnel testing and flight testing.c.
Familiarity with propellers, rotors, fans or compressors.5)
Knowledge of Aircraft Performancea. Familiarity with airplane
