The IPL team is looking to fill the role of Mechanical Engineer in their Dayton (Urbana), Ohio facility. The Mechanical Engineer position is responsible for preparing technical drawings, such as blueprints, to aid in building a wide array of tooling and mold design concepts.
The Dayton facility is one of the primary manufacturing sites for producing customized thin-wall injection molded containers, lids, overcaps and custom packaging solutions for branded and private label food and consumer product companies all over the world. What you will bring to the role:

• Proven experience in the engineering field, preferably injection molding.
• Seeking applicants with a Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or degree from a technical college.
• Additional certification from the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA), a plus.
  Essential experience and skills:
  Project Management
  • Develop, initiate and manage all phases of assigned projects.
  • Estimate budgets and time scopes for each project.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers for proper allocation and tracking of resources.
    Design
    • Create detailed designs using 3D computer-aided design (CAD) software.
    • Calculate dimensions, weight limitations and requirements in materials.
    • Describe production methods step-by-step (including equipment and software types to be used).
    • Design diagrams, maps and layouts to illustrate workflow.
    • Prepare and review rough sketches and review them along with the engineering team.
    • Identify potential operational issues and redesign inserts/molds to improve functionality.
    • Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards.
      Inventory Management
      • Collaborate with vendors to obtain quotes for various components and operations on inserts.
      • Prepare parts to be sent out and receive incoming parts/supplies.
      • Input purchase requestions for Advanced Manufacturing
      • Programming and set-up on various machine tools.
      • Organize and track inventory and supplies for Advanced Manufacturing.
        The successful candidate will:
        • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel
        • Hands on experience with CAD software
        • Familiarity with 3D modeling tools
        • Adept at reading blueprints and schematics
        • Above average math skills
        • Excellent organizations and time management skills
        • Ability to problem solve, analyze, and make recommendations.
