Job Description:
Summary: Responsible for providing sales with consistent and
competitive manufacturing quotes in response to customer RFQs,
increasing sales and reducing quoting response time. Duties and
responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the
following:
- Acts as the technical representative for the assigned quoting
processes;
- Must be able to make independent as well as collaborative
decisions to accommodate accurate estimates for internal and
external processes;
- May conduct brainstorming sessions with the engineering
personnel aiming at low-cost solutions for raw materials, special
subcontracted processes, internal manufacturing processes & tooling
(keep to minimal necessary length);
- Identifies and generates RFQs for materials that are consistent
with current buying practices;
- Identifies and generates RFQs for subcontracted special
processes that are consistent with current buying practices;
- Develops an estimated manufacturing process consistent with
knowledge of manufacturing processes within the company and its
supply base;
- Maintains a tracking system for open quotes to ensure timely
delivery of quotes between the Sales, and Purchasing
departments;
- Inputs data into the quote module for documenting material
costs, subcontract costs, manufacturing operations, tooling, notes,
etc.;
- Forwards RFQ activity for materials and subcontract
requirements through the Purchasing group.
- Interfaces with suppliers and vendors as required for
clarification of drawing and customer requirements;
- Interfaces with the customer as required for clarification of
process requirements;
- Maximizes opportunities on quote packages (i.e. all or
all-or-nothing packages) where combining and grouping of
requirements results in lower quoted costs;
- Identifies and requests engineering data (drawings, specs,
parts lists, etc.) as required to support quote activity;
- Performs quoting activities by existing procedures. Management
direction and work instructions. Evaluate existing procedures for
potential streamlining of quote activities and waste
reduction;
- May support sales in a technical capacity during price
negotiations with customers;
- Develop processes and tooling requirements for governments SARS
packages;
- Coordinates, buy-in, and acceptance of processes with
Manufacturing Engineering before submittal to sales for final
pricing.
- Other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities: Not
applicable.Skills and Experience: Must have 8 years experience in
complex machining processing or process engineering for complex
aerospace sheet metal and machined components plus 2 years of
advanced education or equivalent with additional expertise.
Excellent communication and organizational skills are required.
Experience with GE, P&W and RR is a definite plus. Working
knowledge of Windows applications (Word, Excel, and Project) and
basic keyboarding ability. Must be able to work independently.

methods of transportation while traveling to customer sites, etc.
