As a Professor of Life Cycle Logistics Management, you will apply
your knowledge, experience, and technical skills to teach and
facilitate higher levels of learning for the Department of Defense
Acquisition workforce. In depth Life Cycle Logistics knowledge and
experience in planning, developing, implementing, and managing an
effective systems support strategy for DoD weapons systems. During
both the acquisition and operational phases of a system's life
cycle to include knowledge and experience in all aspects of
Performance Based Logistics. In depth knowledge and experience in
the areas of determination and assessment of warfighter logistics
requirements, logistics test and evaluation, logistics contracting,
configuration management, life cycle cost, logistics budget
development, basic production, manufacturing and quality assurance
principles, policies, processes and practices used in DoD, and
various types of supportability analysis. Experience should also
include responsibilities in key position(s) within the defense
(government) sector and private (commercial) sectors and/or related
to DoD Life Cycle Logistics management in the acquisition and/or
sustainment environment. The duties of this position include:
Performs as a "thinking partner" and consultant with acquisition
customers and students, continuously improving product and service
delivery to provide the right knowledge and skills at the point of
need through mission assistance, workshops, classroom and on-line
offerings. Create content and coordinates with learning-asset and
technology divisions, which have central responsibility for
development of curriculum, to modify assets and delivery methods as
needed.Develop personalized multi-use learning and performance
platform with an engaging, user-driven experience; in the form of
classroom/online lectures, cases, simulations, workshops and field
trips.Leads and facilitates student discussion, problem solving,
and presentations.Prepares course materials (student and
instructor) according to current instructional systems design
technology and develops course schedules. Develops and analyzes
student assessments, and provides student counseling to ensure the
highest degree of learning.Develops or contributes to development
of online assets (e.g. courses, podcasts, and videos) that
customers can leverage in the absence of direct access to DAU
faculty.Participates in professional research to ensure curriculum
currency and to enhance the skill set and processes in your field
of expertise.Improves the user experience by involving customers in
cutting-edge prototyping to select the best new capabilities for
the DAU platform; obtained through customer and student feedback,
and stakeholders to shape the content and delivery of learning
assets with the goal of improving the customers' acquisition
outcomes. Performs other duties as assigned. Travel

experience in Life Cycle Logistics directly relating to: Experience
in management of key logistics support initiatives/efforts, to
include supportability analysis, Life Cycle Cost Estimate
formulation, maintenance planning and management, configuration
management planning/execution, sustainment support, supportability
test design/analysis/execution, and basic production, manufacturing
and quality assurance principles, policies, processes and practices
used in DoD.Military staff experience: Preferably at the Director
or senior supervisor level.Acquisition Program logistics support
experience, at the Director or senior supervisor level.Field
experience in the management and/or support of military
equipment.Previous work experience with DoD 5000 series documents,
and Chapter 5 of the Defense Acquisition GuidebookExtensive
experience and familiarity with logistics requirements and
activities throughout all phases of the acquisition cycle.Ability
to teach and facilitate adult learning: This includes: The ability
to communicate (orally and in writing) complex managerial material
to students with different backgrounds and experiences;A
proficiency in delivery methods such as guided discussions, short
lectures, role plays, problem-based learning (PBL) and case
studies;The ability to incorporate the learner's experience into
the learning process along with the ability to motivate learners to
participate actively in the learning process; and The ability to
organize information. Typical courses are 1 or 2 weeks in duration
in an online or classroom setting. Direct Customer
Assistance(Consulting): This includes:Ability to consult with DoD
clients at various levels of authority from mid-grade to general
officers/SES, including, but not limited to, areas related to
product support management, maintenance planning and management,
manpower and personnel management, IT and computer resource
management. Other consulting activities include, experience
overseeing/participating in an Independent Logistics Assessment,
Business Case Analysis and Supportability Analyses Ability to
manage or develop both in-residence and online learning
assets/products: This includes: The contracting logistics career
field or other DoD Acquisition Workforce members. This ability must
include the continuous assessment, currency, and quality of these
artifacts. Describe any experience with distance learning,
continuous learning modules and communities of practice.Ability to
develop learning objectives and corresponding content with the
ability to identify major takeaways, manage test banks and
curriculumDemonstrated ability to consult with clients, virtually
and in-person, in areas related to life cycle logistics and/or
product support management in support of weapon system program
officeAbility to teach and facilitate adult learning. Proficiency
in resident and virtual learning delivery methods such as guided
discussions, short lectures, role plays, problem based learning and
case studies is highly desired.Experience in coaching individuals
and/or programs through complex issues.DAWIA certification in the
Life Cycle Logistics career fields is highly desired. Professional
certifications such as SCM, PMP, Logistics Engineer (SOLE

certification in Life Cycle Logistics or alternatively, you must
have the ability to obtain the required certification for the
position within 24 months of appointment. - If selected for this
position, you are subject to the completion of a satisfactory
background investigation. - You will be required to become a member
of the Acquisition Corps. DoD instruction 5000.58R specifies
qualification standards for Corps membership (waiver of some of
these standards is in the limited possible circumstances described
in the instruction). - You will be required to join the DAU Faculty
Plan as established by Title 10 of the US Code. This position is in
the excepted service (non-career). Candidates currently in the
competitive service will be required to sign a statement indicating
that they are leaving the competitive services voluntarily to
accept an appointment in the excepted service. - Initial
appointment is made for a period of three years, conditional upon
satisfactory completion of a DAU probationary period of one year.
Every year, as part of an annual review, consideration is given to
extending the appointment; thus, service at DAU can be extended
