Job Description:

A registered professional nurse in the department of surgery is responsible for providing direct perioperative pediatric patient care utilizing AORN, ASPAN, and OSHA standards of practice. Collaborates with other healthcare team members to meet the patients/families needs in a cost-effective manner. Provides customer service for the patients/families, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members. Functions as a team player and practices open communication with a positive flexible attitude. Assists in meeting departmental goals by participating in quality improvement activities. The scope of practice for the perioperative nurse is diverse and flexible and may include preparing patient/family for surgery, scrubbing/circulating in the surgery room, caring for patient in the postanesthesia care unit, or preparing patient/family for discharge to home/hospital unit. Any budgeted position may be required to take on-call shifts and maintain PALS certification in accordance with the departmental policy
