Job Description:
Dayton, OHWright State University's Boonshoft School of
Medicine, Department of Surgery is seeking applications for a
full-time academically minded Trauma/General Surgeon at the
Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level.
Applicants must have a passion for patient-focused care and a
demonstrated commitment to scientific research and medical
education. The WSUBSOM Surgery is the physician staffing body for
Miami Valley Hospital, a high-volume Level 1 trauma center in
Dayton, Ohio.
By their start date, candidates must be board certified in General
Surgery and certified or immediately able to sit for surgical
critical care qualifications. The applicant must also be eligible
for licensure in Ohio.
Academic Effort (30%) - As a core faculty member, there will be
opportunities to directly contribute to academic development,
learner experiences, community-focused research, and
community-focused academic programming.
Clinical Effort (70%) - Department of Surgery faculty maintain
their clinical practice through the BSOM practice plan, Wright
State Physicians, Inc. Clinical practice may vary based on academic
teaching or academic leadership responsibilities including Level 1
trauma center/acute care surgery service, Level 3 trauma /acute
care surgery service and/or other contracted clinical services or
elective surgery practice. Potential for clinical leadership roles,
including contributions to the Level 1 service and accreditation,
to the academic mission and to the community greater via 3rd party
engagements.
Candidates must have an MD, DO or MBBS degree with completed
ACGME-accredited programming and board certifications in Surgery
and Surgery Critical Care (Board-Eligible considered with a
requirement to complete as soon as is reasonable to do so), have or
be eligible to have Ohio Medical Licensure, DEA and ATLS
certification.
Candidates with clinical experience in similar settings, leadership
roles within academic hospital settings and/or strong academic
investments will be considered highly.

The Department of Surgery faculty physicians have an academic
space, on-call offices and private WSP-leased clinic office within
Miami Valley Hospital, service Miami Valley South and Upper Valley
Medical Center call schedules (intermittent) and may practice out
of WSP's other locations, including a suite within Miami Valley
South, our main clinic location in Fairborn, OH, or or out of a
