POSITION AVAILABLEPosition: Registered Environmental Health Specialist I/II Environmental Health Specialist-in-TrainingDepartment: Special ServicesOffice: Environmental HealthMinimum Qualifications: Posting Date: May 9, 2023Hours: Full-time, M - F 8 am - 4:30 pmStarting Salary: EHSIT/B23- $22.54/hr; $46,883.20/Annual REHS I/B24-$24.21/hr; $50,356.80/Annual REHS II/B25-$26.21/hr; $54,516.80/Annual **salary commensurate with experience** Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Health or degree in the Physical, Natural, or Biological Sciences which meet the educational requirements set forth by the Ohio Sanitarian Registration Act (ORC 4736) Ability to obtain Environmental Health Specialist-in-Training status within 30 days of hire and become a Registered Environmental Health Specialist I within 3 yearsCurrent valid Ohio driver's license & access to a motor vehicleRequired to play an active role during a public health emergency, crisis, outbreak, incident, or event in which the Health Commissioner deems additional changes in responsibilities and working locations /hours. Preferred Qualifications: Current Environmental Health Specialist-in-Training or Registered Environmental Health Specialist I and/or a Graduate Degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field. Responsibilities include but not limited to:Reviews design plans and site reviews for sewage treatment and private water systems.Performs inspections of household/small flow sewage treatment and private water systems.Conducts septage hauling vehicle inspectionsConducts sewage nuisance complaintsDetermines compliance to Ohio Administrative Codes 3701-28 and 3701-29Conducts field tests and/or collects water and effluent samples as assigned. Maintains accurate files, data processing and other office records; May assist in preparation of legal or administrative documentsWorks with various state, county, and municipal governments, and community groups to promote improved environmental health practices. This position may require the physical capability to lift 65-75 lbs.
