• This LPN position will be working in the Emergency Department at Mount Carmel St. Ann's two 12-hour shifts per week from 7am - 7:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays.

Learn more at www.experiencecolumbus.com!About The JobThe Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide administrative support and care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The Licensed Practical Nurse, functioning in the spirit of teamwork, under the direction of a provider or Registered Nurse is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Organization.ClinicalWhat you will do:
    • Greets and escorts patient to exam room
    • Measures and records vital signs
    • Records patient interview and history
    • Provides approved patient education materials upon direction of provider or RN
    • Prepares patient for examinations, routine screening tests, and procedures
    • Assists the provider or RN with procedures as needed
    • Performs phlebotomy and obtains lab specimens as ordered
    • Performs testing to meet regulatory requirements as ordered
    • Performs point of care testing as ordered
    • Performs EKGs as ordered
    • Prepares and administers medications (no IV medications) based on written provider order
    • Changes dressings as ordered
    • Removes sutures/staples as ordered
    • Assists in emergency situations under the direction of the provider.
    • Maintains a clean, well-stocked patient care area
    • Abides by all federal mandates
    • Maintains patient confidentiality and abides by all HIPAA guidelinesAdministrative
      • Screens, refers, routes and places phone calls
      • Documents patient care observation and activities according to professional standards and procedures.
      • Prepares patient charts for appointment: files results of tests, procedures and ensures chart completeness.
      • Requests previous medical records
      • Schedules appointments and tests: pre-certifies patients for insurance coverage; sets up referral contacts; reviews requisitions (labs and x-rays) for completeness
      • Prepares and organizes department: inspects exam rooms for cleanliness and equipment for condition.
      • Stocks supplies as needed
      • Timely and accurately maintains required logs and records
      • Attends required in-service training
      • Maintains continuing education units as appropriateWhat We Are Looking For
        • Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing
        • Current license in good standing to practice as an practical nurse in the State of Ohio, IV certification preferred
        • One to two years previous experience preferred
        • Effective Communication Skills
        • Current BLS/CPR and maintain current certification
        • Demonstrates skills and abilities in clinical and administrative areas including phlebotomy, office lab testing, patient care, injections, vitals and EKG.
        • Exceptional customer service skills
        • Must be able to work as a member of a team
        • Ability to work with limited supervision and to make decisions based on established policies and procedures.
