About The Position Registered Nurse/MICU: Duration:13 Weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30) Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30) Description: Registered Nurse in the MICU (Medical Intensive Care Unit) provides critical care to adult patients with serious medical conditions. They monitor vital signs, administer medications, manage ventilators, and respond to emergencies. MICU RNs collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to develop and implement care plans. They ensure patient safety and provide support to families during complex medical treatments. Patient Age group: • Adults • Geriatrics First time travelers: NO Patient Diagnoses: The most common diagnosis of patients include Oncologic Emergencies, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), pneumonia, Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), Gastrointestinal bleed, neuromuscular disease, drug overdose, consequences of oncologic treatment, pulmonary hypertension, autoimmune disorders and sepsis. Special Procedures/Unit Details: Common treatments for these hemodynamically compromised patients include mechanical ventilation, pulmonary artery catheter placement, CRRT, arterial pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, central venous catheters, chemotherapy administration, complex medication regimens, clinical trials and plasmapheresis. Many patients have underlying pulmonary and gastrointestinal conditions requiring bronchoscopy or endoscopy.
