Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Dayton, Ohio, 45409! Job
Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU
Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience:
Minimum 1.5 years in PCU or Stepdown License: Active RN license
Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Cardiac experience required.
EPIC experience required. Pass an online EKG tele competency
assessment before starting the assignment. Experience with drawing
ABGs. Must be available to work every other weekend and holiday.
Must have previous experience with a patient ratio of 1:5.
Description: The position requires cardiac experience. For a
48-hour contract, overtime is paid out after 48 hours. Candidates
must have experience in Stepdown or PCU nursing. Applicants must
have documented 1:5 patient ratio experience in their work history
for consideration. ICU experience does not count towards
Stepdown/PCU experience. Targeted patient ratios are 1:4, but they
can be up to 1:5 to 6. The unit utilizes a team nursing model where
RNs, LPNs, and PCTs work together to care for a group of patients.
The goal is to divide the workload to enhance patient care. Nurses
will function in either team nursing or primary nursing based on
unit needs. Nurses will be fitted for N95 masks prior to working in
high-risk areas unless PAPR is offered. Travel experience is
preferred. Travelers may be required to float to other units as
needed. Floating will be assigned based on appropriate medical
assignments. The unit cares for patients with cardiac issues,
respiratory failure, liver and digestive issues, sepsis, and
substance withdrawal, among others. Patients requiring ventilation
or continuous sedation are not admitted. Staffing includes
interdisciplinary support for various therapeutic needs. Special
equipment used on the unit includes cardiac telemetry and
intravenous therapies. Completion of lab work and competency exams
is required after signing the contract. Module hours are billable
and necessary for orientation. Diverse patient age groups are
served, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The unit has
a daily census of around 31 patients. Navy blue scrubs are required
