Registered Nurse (RN) | Med/Surg / Telemetry Location: Columbus, OH Agency: RadGov, Inc Pay: $2,232 to $2,440 per week Shift Information: Rotating - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 16 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse The Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse provides specialized care for adult patients recovering from surgery or managing acute and chronic medical conditions. This role focuses on cardiac telemetry monitoring, vital sign assessment, medication administration, and patient education. The nurse works in a dynamic hospital unit with varied weekend coverage and a self-scheduling system to balance staff needs. A comprehensive orientation includes one week of day shift training followed by hands-on preceptor-guided training. Shift assignments may rotate between day and night shifts based on departmental needs and scheduling cycles. Job Duties and Responsibilities Monitor cardiac telemetry and vital signs, interpreting data to detect changes or emergencies. Assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans. Administer medications including IV therapy accurately and safely. Document patient care and progress in electronic medical records using EPIC. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care. Provide patient and family education on disease management and post-hospital care. Participate in orientation and ongoing training programs to maintain clinical competencies. Work flexible shifts including rotating days and nights as per unit requirements. Requirements Required Qualifications and Skills Minimum 2 years nursing experience required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms. Experience with EPIC or other computerized charting systems. Ability to administer IV therapy, medications, and perform phlebotomy. Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, and emergency response. Preferred skills include central line management, blood product administration, and tracheostomy care. Ability to float to other Med-Surg or telemetry units as needed.
