University Health summary: This academic Plastic Surgeon position
focuses on complex upper and lower extremity reconstructive

repair. The role involves clinical care, teaching medical students

Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Indiana
University School of Medicine is seeking a full-time academic
Plastic Surgeon with a focused interest in upper and lower
extremity reconstruction to join our growing faculty. This position
offers an outstanding opportunity to build a specialized extremity
reconstruction practice within a collaborative, multidisciplinary
academic environment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in
complex reconstruction of the upper and lower extremities,
including trauma, limb salvage, soft tissue coverage, nerve and
tendon reconstruction, and post-traumatic deformity. Fellowship
training in Hand Surgery is required. This faculty position
emphasizes excellence in clinical care, education, and academic
contribution, with opportunities to tailor the role based on
clinical and scholarly interests. The successful candidate will
contribute to the care of patients with complex extremity defects
and participate in multidisciplinary care pathways alongside
Orthopaedic Surgery, Trauma, and Rehabilitation Medicine.Academic
appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor
level, commensurate with experience and academic accomplishments.
Track will be determined based on qualifications and career goals.
Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive reconstructive care of
the upper and lower extremities, including traumatic and
post-traumatic reconstruction, oncologic limb reconstruction, limb
salvage and complex wound coverage, microsurgical free tissue
transfer (as applicable), and nerve, tendon, and soft tissue
reconstruction Participate in shared call coverage within the
Division of Plastic Surgery Contribute to the development and
growth of extremity reconstruction programs across the health
system Primary clinical activities will take place at tertiary care
centers within the Indiana University Health system, including the
IU Health North, IU Health University Hospital, and IU Health
Methodist Hospital and the Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Outpatient care will be delivered through affiliated specialty
clinics in suburban and urban locations, with access to advanced
practice provider support and multidisciplinary services.
Qualifications: MD or DO degree American Board-certified or
board-eligible in Plastic Surgery Completion of a Hand Fellowship
Demonstrated expertise and interest in teaching and academic
development Commitment to inclusive excellence in clinical and
academic environments Strong interpersonal and communication
skills; ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Education Teach and mentor medical students, integrated and
independent Plastic Surgery residents, and fellows. Participate in
structured educational conferences, skills labs, and operative
teaching. Serve as a role model for professionalism, teamwork, and
academic excellence Scholarship Engage in clinical outcomes
research, translational research, or educational scholarship
related to extremity reconstruction, aligned with individual
interests Collaboration & Service Work closely with
multidisciplinary teams including Orthopaedic Surgery, Trauma
Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Rehabilitation Services.
Participate in institutional and divisional service activities.
