Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 02/23/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 48 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown Telemetry position requiring vent and Epic experience, night shifts, and prior SD/PCU experience. Responsibilities - Work in a hospital Stepdown unit caring for patients with telemetry needs - Patient population includes COPD, CHF, pneumonia, flu, sepsis, DKA, and post-Covid cases - Experience with vents, trach care, bipap, and high-oxygen requirements required - Drips include insulin, heparin, Cardizem, and occasional other drips; no orally intubated patients - Team nursing model in trial with two RNs and one PCT assigned per group of patients - Target patient ratios are 1:4 but may reach up to 1:5-6 - Night shifts (4x12 hours), 19:00–07:30 - Floating required to main campus and nearby sites within 15 miles as needed - Required to work every other weekend and holiday - EMR system is Epic and experience is required - Will work collaboratively with a team including another RN and a PCT under current team nursing trial - Supportive environment with Respiratory Therapy available for complex cases - Navy blue scrubs required - Modules and orientation to be completed during onboarding - Must request all desired RTO (up to 14 days) at time of submittal; no additional RTO will be granted after offer - First-time travelers will be considered - Holiday and weekend coverage is mandatory per schedule - Some shifts may be canceled due to census at facility discretion Requirements - Active OH or compact RN license required - Minimum 1.5 years of recent Stepdown or PCU nursing experience required; ICU experience does not substitute - Recent 1:5 ratio Stepdown or PCU nursing experience must be evident in work history - BLS and ACLS certifications required - Must have recent ventilator experience - Experience with telemetry and the ability to read and interpret EKG strips required - Must pass an online EKG tele competency assessment prior to start - N95 fit testing required before working on HRRU unit unless PAPR is used - Travel experience preferred - No prior license action permitted - Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local RNs not accepted Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-666845.
