Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available for a registered nurse with expertise in stepdown care, specializing in neuro and stroke patients. This travel assignment is a 13-week contract, exclusively for candidates willing to relocate, providing care on a 12-hour night shift on a progressive care unit (PCU) focused on neurology. Dysrhythmia Exam certification is required for this role, with study materials provided to support preparation. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive patient assessments, creating and implementing effective nursing care plans, administering medications safely, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality care. The nurse will manage patients with multi-system organ failure and neurovascular conditions, prioritizing patient safety and acting as an advocate for patients and families. Clinical expertise in cardiac drips and hemodynamic monitoring is essential, and experience with EPIC Electronic Health Records is preferred. Key Qualifications: - Current RN license with eligibility to work under a nursing compact agreement. - Minimum of one year RN experience; at least six months in an acute hospital setting preferred. - Dysrhythmia Exam certification (required). - Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certification highly preferred. - Experience with neuro/stroke patient care highly desirable. - Strong critical thinking and communication skills. - Ability to handle high-stress environments with professionalism. The unit maintains typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 on days and provides intermediate-level care with 32 beds, including pediatric beds that are excluded from travel assignments.
