Job Description:

National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) is the national source for air, space, and cyberspace intelligence. By working with us, you'll help discover and characterize the capabilities, limitations, and vulnerabilities of our nation's enemies. As a NASIC employee, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of experts, working together to solve technical challenges. This position is within Electronics Warfare Flight (GXSE), Signals Analysis Squadron (GXS) and Global Exploitation Intelligence Group, National Air & Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) (HAF/A2), Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
This announcement will be open 18 -28 February 2021 Salary: $67,736 -$82,302 per year
You must be a US citizen to be eligible for a position at NASIC, and you must be able/willing to obtain/maintain a Top Secret security clearance. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed upon hire.
Responsibilities

  • Applies engineering knowledge, statistics and software tools in analysis and assessment of foreign radar signal behaviors and anomalies to support the organization's mission objectives. Performs complete studies of limited scope or portions of larger projects, modifying/adapting techniques to fit situations, some requiring innovative approaches. Works under the guidance of senior analyst(s), to formulate, plan, direct, and carry to completion a variety of signals analyses and/or work as a team member on specific problems of major studies.
  • Utilizes scientific inquiry in the development of models/simulations and/or computer programs to evaluate and predict the ability to support assigned projects, studies, or problems. Performs tasks or phases of major signals analysis projects requiring a basic application of engineering theory and principles in the technical areas of signal analysis and radar theory. Diagnoses problems using a comprehensive knowledge of scientific techniques (e.g. data collection and analysis procedures). Participates in problem definition and refinement. Identifies significant variables and thoroughly examines underlying relationships. Utilizes mathematical and statistical techniques, theory, and engineering level analysis knowledge to develop solutions to problems.
  • Provides technical guidance, advisory support, and assistance. Performs studies/evaluations on an individual basis or as a team member responsible for completing defined portions of an overall work effort. Reviews and evaluates multi-source signals intelligence (SIGINT) information, initiates formal request for that data. Upon receipt of data, processes and contributes to the processing of relevant radar signals data. Serves as a consultant making technical recommendations to other organizations, commands, and/or agencies.
  • Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to program planning, advanced technologies, and support system concepts. Represents the organization during visits with governmental and industry representatives. Coordinates the contributions of professionals and specialist, notes problems that arise, and resolves differences.
  • Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency through professional interaction with technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposia, contractors, research and development organizations, by reading/reviewing technical journals and current literature, and participation in formal training programs.
    Qualifications
    • Professional knowledge of concepts, principles, theories, and practices involved in engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science to perform studies, modify standard practices, and/or resolve issues related to planning, development, and fielding, and sustainment of complex electrical systems.
    • Knowledge of security procedures to maintain control of classified material.
    • Knowledge and understanding of agency, AF, Department of Defense (DoD), and national-level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to assigned program(s) and/or project(s).
    • Skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify, investigate, and resolve complex issues or problems.
    • Ability to foresee the impact of changing technology.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, in order to produce highly technical reports, position papers, and briefings which are appropriate for the intended audience; and to maintain good working relationships.

      Conditions of Employment
      • U.S. Citizenship Required
      • Required to complete the two-year DCIPS trial period.
      • Position is designated special-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
      • Must have a bachelor's degree in a related professional discipline such as computer or electronics engineering, computer science, or mathematics.
      • Positions which require polygraph testing as an inherent primary requirement of their positions: Incumbent will be subject to periodic polygraph testing.
      • Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic drug testing.
      • Must have a bachelor's degree in a related professional discipline such as computer or electronics engineering, computer science, or mathematics.
      • Position which requires polygraph testing as an inherent primary requirement of their position: incumbent will be subject to periodic polygraph testing.
      • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
      • The work is primarily sedentary. Items carried typically include briefcases, notebooks, working papers, references, data print outs, and suitcases. A moderate amount of standing and walking is required in getting to and from meetings and
      • The workspace is adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. There is occasional noise from office equipment, such as printers, fax machines, and telephones. The employee is required to perform in varying office and meeting environments.
      • The incumbent observes normal safety precautions when working in and travelling away from the work site.
