Description: MacAulay-Brown, Inc. (MacB), an Alion company, is looking for a Journeyman Software Engineer to support the KC-46 Tanker Program Office. The Journeyman Software Engineer will provide support for the development, procurement, sustainment and modification of aircraft software, sub-systems, components and equipment with the ability to provide expertise to the following areas: software engineering expertise in software design and integration, coding, quality and industrial engineering, airworthiness and configuration and data management. * CONUS travel may be required * Assist in milestone preparation as well as engineering evaluation of OEM and subcontractor recommendations for operational and support issues such as: evaluations of Advance Change Study Notices, Engineering Change Proposals, Contractor Change Proposals, FAA Bulletins, and related documents * Support the development and maintenance of critical systems engineering documentation (i.e., specifications, system requirements documents, systems engineering plans, etc.) * Produce and/or review technical evaluations, engineering studies, reports, analyses, and acquisition plans and strategies * Assist in generating and managing Configuration Management, Data Management, and Risk Management processes and plans; support environmental assessments, support design reviews, technical interchange meetings, interface control meetings, program management reviews, audits and other technical reviews; and have thorough knowledge of Deficiency Reporting (DR) procedures and processes * Support the translation of requirements into prime contractor documents (e.g., software development plans, sub-specifications, etc.) and procedures to ensure the robust application of systems engineering processes across all program development, production, and sustainment tasks * Understand and execute Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 62-6, USAF Airworthiness, through standardized processes and issuance of flight authorizations * Define and maintain technical processes, identify technical requirements and support air system and avionics development in the areas of electronic combat systems, threat assessments, navigation, airborne fire control, radar, and electro-optical systems. Support and assist in reviews and studies to help define system requirements, performance capabilities, and interfaces with other system acquisition elements * Provide Avionics expertise (e.g. Interface Control Document (ICD), open system architecture, hardware, and software) * Provide Test and Evaluation Support * Additional duties as assigned. Requirements: Qualifications * A minimum of ten (3) years of relevant engineering experience * Must have a DoD Secret Clearance * Bachelor degree in engineer or related field Desired Skills: * Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook) * Demonstrated technical leadership experience in a relevant engineering discipline * Knowledge and experience with the application of DoD 5000.02, AFIs 63-101/63-131, and related systems engineering policy and guidance impacting fixed wing aircraft support * Knowledge of and experience with the development, procurement, sustainment and modification of aircraft systems, sub-systems, components and equipment with the ability to provide software engineering expertise * Demonstrated software engineering expertise in systems design and integration, manufacturing, quality and industrial engineering, airworthiness and configuration and data management * Demonstrated expertise open hardware, and software architectures--to include interface management (e.g., Interface Control Documents (ICD)) * Understanding and experience with Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 62-6, USAF Airworthiness, through standardized processes and issuance of flight authorizations * Experience with military and Federal Aviation Administration airworthiness processes.
