Job Description:


  • Operates and maintains boilers, Trane chillers, air compressors, water softeners, RO system, and all related equipment.
  • Monitor and analyze Invysys Building Management System (BMS), fire alarm system, Medical gas alarm warning system, and initiate corrective action as required.
  • Monitors all utility systems and initiates appropriate action when required.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to less senior operators who work with him/her.
  • Attend training programs to improve total safety and operation of Central Utility Plant.
  • Monitor various Building Management Systems throughout Reid's buildings, both on the Main Campus and Off Site Facilities via remote interfaces.
  • Routinely demonstrate a strong commitment to Reid's behavioral standards as identified in the Pledge to CARE, by serving as a role model to staff and peers. Take ownership and hold others accountable.
  • Actively promote Reid's behavioral standards to others. Praise good performance and address those who fail to meet Reid's behavioral standards. Responsibilities

    Performs all levels corrective and preventative maintenance in accordance with, but not limited to, the following list to assure the integrity of the plant and equipment, and to provide a safe and comfortable environment for the patients, visitors, and staff.
    • Fire and maintain dual fired boilers and related equipment:
      • Deaerator
      • Feed water pumps
      • Hot water tanks
      • Condensate storage tank and pumps
      • Fuel storage tanks and monitor
        • Operate and maintain Trane Centravac chillers and related equipment:
          • Cooling towers
          • Chilled water pumps
          • Condenser pumps
          • Chemical pumps
            • Make chemical analyses of water systems to keep them in operational limits; following protocols and procedures set by Reid's water treatment vendor. These systems include but are not limited to:
              • Boiler water
              • Chilled water
              • Cooling tower water
              • Reverse Osmosis (RO) water
              • Condensate water
              • Water softener water
                • Perform routine maintenance and preventive maintenance as required by established procedures.
                • Completed work orders and PM procedures in TMS in a timely and efficient manner prior to the end of each shift.
                • Have knowledge of and participates in QA and QA&I activities
                • Preform other duties assigned/requested. PLANNING:
                  • Continually strives to make the best use of time through careful coordination of daily tasks.
                  • Adjusts and reviews work schedule as necessary in relation to day-to-day requests, with a positive attitude.
                  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for own actions. Qualifications
                    • Successful completion of Reid Hospital orientation and competency based skills appropriate for the position.
                    • Individual performance and competency based skills are maintained through on-going assessment of competence and educational activities.
                    • Written evaluations are done on an annual basis.
                    • Must be capable of calculating test results in order to maintain operational limits for water quality.
                    • Be proficient in the use of common hand tools.
                    • Two years previous experience in a maintenance environment is desired.
                    • Valid driver's license Schedule DetailsVaried Shift. 40 hours weekly.
