This position reports directly to the area team leader. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Identifies proper finishing materials and species of wood to be used.Maintains quality by inspecting materials used for defects and flaws, understanding that some occur naturally in raw wood materials.Reports defective materials or questionable conditions, including potential defects of unfinished caskets and components, to the area team leader prior to staining when possible.Performs staining, shading, sealing, sealer sanding and topcoat finishing of caskets and casket components according to documented standards using spray guns and pneumatic sanders.Understands the operation of the paint booths and the air flow and replaces paint booth filters as needed.Moves products and materials throughout the department as needed.Understands the operation of all paint line equipment, including computer and paint line carts.Masks areas of caskets and components when required to refinish defects.Follows all prescribed safety regulations, including those applicable to local, state and federal laws.Complies with chemical and waste storage and disposal regulations and best practices.Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.Performs other duties as assigned that may be required.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS:Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to follow instructions and provide consistent work.Highly motivated and able to work independentlyWorking knowledge of all production equipment and processes.Good communication skills, team oriented and a self-starter.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Requires a high school diploma/GED.Previous experience in industrial paint preparation and/or application is preferred.LANGUAGE SKILLS:Has ability to read, comprehend and write the English language as it relates to safety, job responsibilities and other essential communication. Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.REASONING ABILITY:Possesses strong reasoning skills, including the ability to analyze problems and identify, implement and rationalize solutions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
