About this Position:
The EX2 Component position in the Powertrain group is the primary
liaison with AHM's parts supplier network and Japan to ensure
component part availability from specific suppliers to support
manufacturing operations at several sites and new core builds at
the Plants.
The specialist has a working knowledge of the supplier network,
internal Honda operations; sound understanding of activities
necessary to support manufacturing functions and the development of
initiatives to improve supplier performance. The specialist's
responsibilities include: Communicating forecasted data for timely
raw material procurement and production planning, inventory
ordering and management, develop effective working relationships
with suppliers and plants; expediting, delivery coordination,
follow through on backorder issues; on-site supplier visits to
monitor and analyse compliance with policies and procedures; build
out planning and preparation, new model support and complete
business operation special projects.
The specialist will work directly with Honda Plants in a supply
specialist and procurement function. The specialist will create
build out plans and negotiate non-current supply, minimum order
quantities and frequency of builds and be responsible to procure
and set up all non-current component parts and supply back to the
Plant for these builds.
In addition, the specialist is responsible to manage all aspects of
component part inventory. This includes forecasting and ordering to
suppliers, working with the remanufacture to manage usage rates,
managing PC89 (off site) inventory at the remanufacturer, ensuring
safety stock levels to reduce air shipments, reviewing, and
entering scrap, create yearly inventory goals to reduce on hand
inventory while sequencing parts to both the remanufacturer and the
plants.
The specialist is also responsible for build out at the component
part suppliers, which includes calculating life- time purchase of
any component parts (including usage rates), supporting tooling
transfers, and ensuring receipt of product.
Additionally, the specialist works directly with Japan (CFO) to set
up, forecast and order component parts. They are the direct contact
between AHM and Japan for RB parts. The contact also calculates
lifetime purchases and negotiates non-current supply from Honda
Japan plants and their suppliers.
Responsibilities include:
Component part ordering and expediting from Japan and domestic
suppliers to support the non-current manufacturing of transmissions
at the Honda and Remanufacturing plants.
Supplier and Honda plant performance responsibility to make sure
that parts are shipped on time to meet or exceed department KOI
objectives for customer backorder and inventory level
objectives.
Management of transmission buildout activities with suppliers,
Honda Plants, and Japan to ensure no impact of service part
availability for Honda and Acura customers.
LET process support and back up at the Remanufacturing plant.
Offsite component inventory storage and management at the
Remanufacturing plant.
Special projects as assigned to support the fiscal year business
plan or department objectives.

Required Work Experience:
4-5 years of procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing
environment
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or
equivalent work experience
Desired skills:
Familiar with procurement practices, preferably in a manufacturing
environment
Financial analysis (inventory management, etc.)
Demonstrated PC skills (Excel, Access, Teams, Mainframe)
Negotiating skills (supplier and plant performance, etc.)
Planning / organizing skills (time management, minimal supervision,
etc.)
Communication skills (effective written and oral communication)
