Position SummarySinclair seeks to attract an academically and culturally diverse faculty that carries out the mission of the college with dedication, innovation and a commitment to the success of each student.Sinclair is currently seeking qualified part-time (adjunct) Aviation faculty to teach academic courses in our Professional Pilot degree programs and certified flight instructors to teach both fixed wing and helicopter flight lab courses.Principal AccountabilitiesPlan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learningPrepare, distribute and submit syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policiesEmploy appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriateModify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student's needsSupport classroom and online efforts to promote student successEvaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learningMaintain accurate records of student progressSubmit final grade rosters according to established deadlinesMaintain confidentiality of student informationCannot exceed maximum of 12 credit hours per semesterRequirementsA minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Aviation or a related field required, OR must meet the specific requirements associated with Tested Experience.Tested Experience Requirements: Associate's degree in the discipline or a related field preferred. A minimum of a high school diploma required, AND possession of an appropriate industry license, credential, or certification that qualifies the individual to teach the content, PLUS one or more of the following:Five years of experience working in a field specifically related to the course to be taught and/or college or university teaching in a field specifically related to the course to be taught (as determined by the department chairperson and approved by the division dean), ORComparable or widely accepted experience specific to the field of the course to be taughtAdditional RequirementsIndustry experience preferredEvidence of successful prior teaching experience preferredA demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program levelEffective communication skills and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse college communityDemonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based instruction requiredFAA Ratings required for flight instructor applicants: Instrument, Commercial, Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)FAA Ratings preferred for flight instructor applicants: Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII), Multi-engine and Airline Transport Pilot (ATP)Official transcripts for all post-secondary degrees (if applicable) and successful completion of a background check will be required prior to date of hire.PDN-992339c5-85bf-4b90-8d2c-3693716a33f5
