Apply here to start an extraordinary career today.This IT Administrator position directly supports the AES US Security Organization for all ongoing activities that serve to provide appropriate access to, and protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the AES components of the Bulk Electric System (BES) in compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements..Specifically, this position is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation) CIP (Critical Infrastructure Protection) programs related to the BES and associated systems.This position is a NERC regulated position. As such, a background check will be conducted on the incumbent every seven years. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to complete annual NERC and other compliance training.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe candidate must have a strong working knowledge of server and workstation implementation and maintenance. In addition, a strong working knowledge of computer networking and monitoring concepts is preferred. The primary duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of servers and workstations.
  • Installation of client applications for monitoring and security.
  • Provision new users for physical and/or logical access.
  • Backup and recovery of servers and workstations using a centralized application.
  • Patching servers and workstations with BigFix or other centralized applications.
  • Develop and implement documented processes and operating procedures.
  • Monitor critical components of the assets which make up AES BES Cyber Systems.
  • Maintain proper change management documentation for all hardware and software modifications.
  • Conduct routine hardware and software audits of all supported security devices to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Participate in the Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT).Lead and ensure the fulfillment of team responsibilities including:
    • Perform all required operational maintenance and troubleshooting of supported security assets.
    • Perform daily backup and recovery operations for the supported security assets.
    • Participate in disaster recovery planning, development, exercises, and actual events.
    • Evaluate and test software changes and updates supplied by vendors, prior to installation.
    • Work with vendors, application developers, database administrators, corporate IT, and other technology groups to resolve any problems.
    • Participate in budgeting and purchasing processes.
    • Other duties as assigned.QualificationsThis position will require excellent problem solving and decision-making skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and the ability to perform duties effectively in emergency situations. The candidate should possess a competency in one or more of the following IT related areas: Microsoft domain administration, firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, network switches, performing information security assessments, anti-virus, patch evaluation, event monitoring systems, virtual environments, and network analysis. Strong LAN/WAN infrastructure knowledge, technical writing skills and comprehension of technical manuals preferred. The incumbent must have excellent planning, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills and must have the ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing. The incumbent must have the ability to work well with people from varying disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience. A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or another related field is preferred. Technical certifications from CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, Linux, Unix, or similar can be used in lieu of a degree. An ideal candidate would have experience in the Energy or Utility industry, experience supporting a 24 x 7 real time operations environment, experience supporting systems subject to regulatory compliance requirements, or experience with FERC, NERC, and/or a NERC Regional Entity.Working ConditionsNormal business office environment.
