Job Description Job Description Like working with kids? Working
outdoors? Exploring? Great Parks is looking for qualified
individuals to work with our summer day camp. This seasonal
position runs Monday-Friday and averages 35-40 hour per week,
mid-May thru early August. A successful camp counselor will lead a
variety of day camp activities including hikes, crafts, games and
enjoys getting into the nature of the parks with children at Miami
Whitewater Forest. At Great Parks, our team members work together
to preserve and protect natural resources and to provide outdoor
recreation and education in order to enhance the quality of life

friends. At Great Parks, our team members work together to preserve
and protect natural resources and to provide outdoor recreation and
education in order to enhance the quality of life for present and
future generations. Responsibilities: Presents inclusive
interpretive programs focused on local natural/cultural history,
environmental topics and sustainability to diverse groups and
individuals. Engages in learning to enhance knowledge of
interpretive techniques, learning styles, program planning, local
flora and fauna, animal care, etc. Works with live animals during
presentations; gives demonstrations; uses various forms of
technology to enhance programming; distributes written materials;
leads hikes; provides care of program and display animals. Assists
in maintaining required records and reports to measure programming
effectiveness. Originates emails, correspondence, charts, and other
documents as required. Represents Great Parks in a positive manner;
provides general park information and answers inquiries as needed;
collects and deposits program fees. Monitors the safety of trails
and interpretive areas; promptly reports problems. Works and
communicates effectively with other departments, leadership,
volunteers and peers; attends and participates in meetings;
completes required training. Provides assistance with special
events and other tasks assigned by the Regional Education Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS An appropriate combination of education, training,
course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate
required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an
acceptable qualification is: Prior experience working with
children, public speaking, and knowledge in natural/cultural
history. Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to document
identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of
original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance
with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements. LICENSE &
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License
meeting GPHC current carrier guidelines. Benefits include
